Project & People News

  • Harrington & Cortelyou designed the new bridge over Lake Taneycomo between Branson and Hollister, Mo., that was opened in December 2010. The bridge runs adjacent to the existing Route 76 concrete arch bridge and carries traffic between Branson Landing Boulevard and a new roundabout on the Hollister side.
  • The South Omaha Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Missouri River was opened in May 2010. Harrington & Cortelyou designed the 625-foot truss span and piers for the new 4,300-foot bridge. The new bridge, which replaces a narrow and structurally deficient bridge built in 1936, connects South Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa. A protected walk and bike lane runs along the northern-most lane of the bridge.
  • The Route 17 Osage River bridge near Tuscumbia, Mo., designed by Harrington & Cortelyou and opened in August 2010, is the first Economic Recovery & Reinvestment Act project in the nation. This project replaces the existing bridge with a 970-foot-long, 28-foot-wide bridge. Roadway realignment involved cutting through the rock bluff due to significant slope failures occurring near the existing bridge.
  • Harrington & Cortelyou provided bridge design services for six bridges in the I-470/50 Highway interchange reconstruction in Lee's Summit, Mo. The Pryor Road bridge opened to traffic in August 2008. Two connector bridges between Blue Parkway and Pryor Road opened in June 2010. The connector bridges over 50 Highway are more than 1,000 feet long and use long-span prestressed concrete NU girders.
  • Harrington & Cortelyou, Inc. received a Grand Award in the 2009 American Council of Engineering Companies Missouri chapter (ACEC-Missouri) Engineering Excellence competition for the new Route 19 Missouri River Bridge at Hermann, Mo. The 2,244-foot-long bridge was opened to traffic in September 2007 and dedicated in October 2007. It connects pedestrian and bicycle traffic to the Katy Trail.
