In-House News: Sharp Focus on Facilities

Campus facilities — manufacturing, corporate, healthcare or university — are a microcosm of a city. Managers of these facilities must deliver services to meet the diverse needs of their occupants. They are challenged by both a decrease in available resources and an expanding breadth of knowledge required to plan, develop, design, build and manage their miniature cities.

Burns & McDonnell has developed a depth and breadth of experience in these areas and recently focused our internal corporate structure to optimize service to the full range of facilities clients.

"Our Global Facilities practice group is designed to partner with our clients to provide the experience and skill needed in large campus settings, partnering with facility managers to complement their staff," says Mike Fenske, senior vice president and manager of the new division. "From function and process definition to architectural design and facility life cycles, we're prepared to execute the best solutions for each client. From those with large campuses to develop and operate to those with a single facility, we have the knowledge to help you succeed with all your facility needs."

Paired with the creation of Global Facilities is a sharpened focus on services to the aviation industry and federal markets. Formerly Aviation & Facilities, the renamed Aviation & Federal Group will expand services to airports and airlines, and continue to provide in-depth planning, design and construction services for defense agencies and other federal agencies.

"This realignment of our facilities services gives us the opportunity to best meet client needs for aviation and federal programs," says David Yeamans, president of Aviation & Federal and Burns & McDonnell board member. "We're more agile moving forward in solving the particular challenges of these unique markets."
