Relocation of Missouri Route 19

Location: Crawford County, Mo.

Client: Missouri Department of Transportation

Burns & McDonnell provided final design services for 4.4 miles of relocated Missouri Route 19 from Cuba south to near Steeleville in south central Missouri. Included in the project were alternative alignment evaluations and the design of mainline and side road geometrics, a traffic control plan and a new 700-foot-long, two-lane bridge over the Meramac River.

In addition to the bridge and roadway design, Burns & McDonnell was responsible for performing field surveys, conducting a noise study and performing a detailed hydraulic analysis of the Meramac River using the HEC-2 computer program. The scour potential of the river crossing was evaluated with the Federal Highway Administration’s HEC-18 computer program. Project construction began in September 1999.
