Readiness Center and Multiunit Armory

Burns & McDonnell provided comprehensive, planning, programming and architect-engineer design services as the prime consultant for a proposed single-story 57,000-square-foot facility. The facility will serve the peacetime missions of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment of the 185th Quartermaster Battalion and the 1114th Transportation Company.

Building architecture is designed to complement other area buildings and incorporates masonry cavity-wall construction, sloped standing-seam metal roofing and a barrel roof over the main assembly hall. Interior spaces include a kitchen, training rooms, offices and work spaces, a family center and gym, large storage areas, arms vaults, a vehicle maintenance training work bay, and warehouse storage areas.

Systems include overhead wet-pipe sprinkler system, fire detection and alarm system, HVAC systems, evaporative cooling, standby power system, joint services interior intrusion detection system, mass notification system and power, data and voice networks. Force protection measures included meeting required setbacks from roads and parking. Site work includes asphalt parking areas, concrete pavements for military vehicles and trucks, truck fueling stands, vehicle wash racks, site utilities, security fencing and extensive landscaping.
