Rail Splitter Wind Farm

The proposed Rail Splitter Wind Farm comprises 61 wind turbine generators, an underground 34.5-kV electrical collection system, a project step-up substation and interconnect substation, a 230-kV overhead transmission system, operation and maintenance facility, laydown yard, access roads along the route, and improvements to public roads and bridges. The project is located in Logan and Tazewell counties, Ill.

All areas of the proposed wind farm were surveyed for potential wetlands and other waters of the United States. Burns & McDonnell coordinated with Horizon personnel and subcontractors to determine the alignment with the least impacts to jurisdictional areas practicable. A wetland delineation report and Section 404 Dredge and Fill Permit application package were prepared and submitted to the Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District.
