New Outer Road - Route 67

Location: Desloge, Mo.

Client: City of Desloge, Mo.

Completion Date: November 2007

A new outer road connecting the interchanges of Highway 67 and Route 8 with the interchange of Highway 67 and Parkway Drive. A new 1.25-mile-long outer road was designed. The outer road crosses the Flat River. A 240-foot deck beam bridge was used for this crossing. Burns & McDonnell’s work includes the design of a three-lane road, a 180-foot bridge to span the Flat River and necessary stormwater facilities. The firm’s services included engineering design and construction support.

This new outer road completed an additional leg of a U.S. Highway 67 eastern outer road system that may eventually extend south to Farmington, providing local traffic with a much-needed alternate route.

The project was the first highway project in Missouri to be funded using a unique combination of federal, state and local sources. Fifty percent of the project’s $3 million cost will be funded by the Federal Highway Administration, with the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Desloge each assuming 25 percent of the costs, thus giving the project’s local sponsor a more active role.
