Multiple Rental Facility Upgrade Services

Burns & McDonnell has worked nationwide for the transportation industry for more than 40 years. Consequently, we are familiar with the requirements of working at complex locations that include a constant flow of inbound and outbound traffic, customer facilities and vehicle holding and storage facilities. Included in our resume of experience is a variety of projects with Hertz. A summary of our services to Hertz includes:

  • Conducting due diligence investigations for the Hertz Equipment Rental Co. (HERC) in the evaluation of site and facility purchases as part of an ongoing expansion program. Burns & McDonnell assisted HERC in the evaluation of more than 200 in-place facilities for potential acquisition and more than 50 green field sites for new facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Inspections of existing facilities consisted of reviewing and documenting site conditions and situations, building locations and conditions, code compliance and required capital improvement needs. Inspection of new green field sites consisted of reviewing the site conditions and situations, meeting with the property owner and code officials to obtain site plans and property information, assessing sites for zoning, permitting, restrictive covenants and constructability.
  • Engineering design services in connection with installation of emergency generators at several locations. As part of the Hertz continuing facility improvement program, Burns & McDonnell provided design services for the implementation of emergency generators to allow facilities uninterrupted operation capabilities. The design services included site reconnaissance and assessment, design solution options and engineering to implement the desired solution.
  • Engineering design services for fueling system upgrades at Kansas City International Airport. Burns & McDonnell provided Hertz with assistance in the investigation of existing systems and the design of upgrades to the existing fuel system. The design of the system upgrade included permitting and regulatory approvals, leak detection and containment system design, spill control plans, regulatory compliance monitoring and tank tightness testing and well as assistance in meeting the requirements of Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC), OPA, and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations as they pertain to fueling systems.
  • Engineering design services for fueling system upgrades at Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Baltimore, Md. Burns & McDonnell provided Hertz with assistance in the investigation of existing systems and the design of upgrades to the existing fuel system. The design of the system upgrade included permitting and regulatory approvals, leak detection and containment system design, spill control plans, regulatory compliance monitoring as well as assistance in meeting the requirements of Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC), OPA, and National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations as they pertain to fueling systems.
  • Environmental services in connection with removal of fuel tanks at a location in Chicago. Burns & McDonnell provided Hertz with assistance in the testing and investigation of existing fuel tanks, permitting and regulatory approvals, tank closure investigation and reports, corrective action plans, and regulatory compliance monitoring.
