Mine Warfare Command Headquarters

Burns & McDonnell is the integrated design-build contractor for the 30,100-square-foot Mine Warfare Command Headquarters. This project will consolidate the groups attached to the commander for Mine Warfare Command into a single complex. These groups include the Flag Commander and staff, Financial Management, Manpower & Personnel, Intelligence, Operations & Planning, Logistics, and Programs.

Specialized interior spaces include about 4,000 square feet for the command and control center and war ready room; commander’s suite; main conference room with galley; VTC rooms; quarterdeck; and controlled access portico connected to the existing Mine Warfare Operations Support Facility. Other interior spaces include open administration space, private offices, chart and map rooms, libraries, storage and supply area, restroom and large galley. Extensive pre-wired workstations will be provided throughout the building and will be integrated with the building’s communication, data, LAN and power systems.

Building support systems include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire-protection, security, communications, data/information technology and mass notification. Construction requirements include provisions to meet code requirements for hurricane force winds and anti-terrorism/force protection features.
