MVP Transmission Line

Location: Indiana

Client: NIPSCO

Completion Date: 2018

Burns & McDonnell was retained by NIPSCO in late 2012 to develop Phase I of one of its multi-value project (MVP) transmission line initiative, as defined by the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO). This approximately 100-mile 345-kV transmission line project will extend from Reynolds to Topeka, Ind.

Phase 1 of the project involves routing, a full-service public involvement program, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and preliminary substation and transmission design. This phase of the project is scheduled to be complete in 2015. The public involvement program was under way in early 2013, with local leader and agency contacts, advisory committees and a study area public open house.

Following this effort, routes will be developed and a second round of local leader contacts, advisory committee meetings and public open houses will gather input into the preliminary routes. Right-of-way acquisition and permitting are scheduled for late 2013 through 2015. The project is scheduled to be in service in 2018.
