Lobby Addition & Renovation

Lobby Addition & Renovation

Location: Merriam, Kan.

Client: Monogram Credit Services

Monogram Credit Services has been an ongoing, repeat client of Burns & McDonnell for many years. We have provided Monogram with a range of professional services and expertise, including the interior renovation and addition that converted a static, single-story entry vestibule into a dynamic and aesthetic two-story lobby.

The primary design goal of our client was to create an image of positive business philosophy and corporate identity. Our design team led Monogram through a master planning and design process that produced excellent results.

The lobby design introduced daylighting to two floors of existing space that had no visual exterior views. The materials and finishes are classic and durable, fitting the goals of the client’s unique business. The design integrated maple wood paneling, granite flooring, and brushed aluminum column covers within a limited budget, yet expressing a fresh identity for the client. Integral to the success of the project and as important as the aesthetic concerns of the renovation, Burns & McDonnell assessed and incorporated accessibility standards based upon the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the public entrances and all lobby functions including reception counter and restrooms. Areas restricted to employees feature similar attention to the concerns for accessibility and convenience for the physically disabled.

This project used the full range of A/E services provided by the facilities and interiors group of Burns & McDonnell: architecture; interiors; structural; civil; mechanical; electrical and plumbing engineering; and cost estimating were all provided by our comprehensive, in-house staff in Kansas City.
