Completion Date: Phase I: 2006; Phase II: 2007; Phase III: 2008

Burns & McDonnell recently completed the design phase of a multi-phased reconstruction of the taxiway system at Great Bend Municipal Airport, Great Bend, Kan. The complete taxiway system includes Taxiway A, which is parallel to Runway 17-35, and all the connector taxiways B, C and D. A total of 9,700 linear feet of taxiway are being reconstructed.

The completed taxiway included the removal of the existing World War II-era concrete pavement and the reuse of the existing concrete as a crushed aggregate base course. The surface will feature a new 8-inch concrete pavement. Additional features include new medium intensity taxiway lights, (MITLs), signage and regrading of the safety areas. The first phase of the project was completed in 2006 and 2007.
