Location: Fulton, Mo.

Client: City of Fulton, Missouri

Completion Date: 2007

Burns & McDonnell provided engineering and related services for construction of Runway 18-36 at Elton Hensley Memorial Airport for the City of Fulton, Mo. The 4,000-foot-long nonprecision instrument runway was designed for Approach Category B and Airplane Design Group II, with 12,500-pound single wheel gear load. Completed in 2006, the runway project also features two short taxiways and a turnaround, medium-intensity runway lighting, pilot-controlled runway end identifier lights, precision approach path indicators, and electrical vault improvements.

Burns & McDonnell provided surveys, soils investigations, engineering design, bid documents, resident engineering, record drawings and an update of the airport layout drawing.

Our environmental specialists prepared an Environmental Assessment, delineated wetlands, and secured Section 404 and Missouri DNR permits for the project. Subcontracted surveying tasks included topographic and boundary surveys, instrument approach procedures survey, PAPI obstacle clearance zone survey, and an Exhibit A Property Map update.

In 2006-07, Burns & McDonnell provided bid documents and construction inspection for a slurry seal overlay on the older Runway 5-23 and assisted the City with acquisition of properties in the Runway 5-23 Safety Area.
