Airport Satellite Parking Bus Study

Burns & McDonnell conducted a satellite parking bus study at Kansas City International Airport (KCI) to identify critical issues and recommend system improvements. The City of Kansas City, Mo., was particularly looking for greater efficiencies and passenger service levels for those using the 9,500-space remote parking lot.

The results of the study supported plans to improve operations and reduce delays by splitting the lot and serving it from two routes. An automated vehicle locations system (AVL) based on a GPS platform was programmed into the system to assist in dispatch functions and add a level of system flexibility.
