Airport Master Plan & Layout Plan Updates

Airport Master Plan & Layout Plan Updates

Location: Kennett, Mo.

Client: City of Kennett

Completion Date: Ongoing since 2009

Burns & McDonnell completed an update to the airport master plan and airport layout plan for the Kennett Memorial Airport in Kennett, Mo. As a part of the master planning process, a comprehensive analysis of existing airport facilities was completed. This facility analysis, coupled with aviation demand forecasts, revealed a need for additional hangar units, land acquisition, an aviation weather observing system (AWOS), improved instrument approaches and a pavement maintenance program.

Several airside and landside alternatives were developed, based on the vision and goals of the planning advisory committee. These alternatives were presented to the planning advisory committee during a public meeting and resulted in a preferred planning alternative that became the basis for the airport layout plan set.

In addition, a capital improvement plan was developed, in combination with a brief business plan, that addressed future airport funding and improvement projects. The master plan was accepted by the city, and the plans were submitted to the Missouri Department of Transportation Aviation Section for approval.

In 2010 Burns & McDonnell performed construction phase services for the installation of a new eight-unit T-hangar, taxilane, apron expansion and isolated pavement repairs. In addition, Runway 18-36 was treated with a sealcoat and all movement areas were remarked with new pavement markings.
