Aircraft Maintenance Facility

Aircraft Maintenance Facility

Location: Honolulu

Client: Continental Airlines

Burns & McDonnell was responsible for the design of a 90,000-square-foot aircraft maintenance facility for Continental Airlines. The facility includes a single-bay, 747-400 hangar, as well as surrounding shop, warehouse and administration facilities to support Continental's aircraft maintenance needs in the Pacific.

Burns & McDonnell produced concept designs for the facility that were included in an RFP package that was issued for bidding. This bidding method was chosen to facilitate the extreme 15-month schedule. After bidding, Burns & McDonnell completed final mechanical and electrical designs, and served as an aviation consultant to other team members for the final design of the architectural, structural and civil works.

The hangar also includes engine maintenance facilities, warehousing stores and material stores.
