4-Bay, Wide-Body Overhaul & Maintenance Hangar

Burns & McDonnell is part of the team selected by Boeing Shanghai to design a four-bay, wide-body overhaul and maintenance base at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Burns & McDonnell’s primary responsibilities include concept design and design overview for design development and construction documents, such as aircraft maintenance specialty consulting. The facility will ultimately house four Boeing 747 aircraft simultaneously and contain state-of-the-art paint ventilation and energy systems, Aqueous Film Forming Foam fire protection systems and environmental controls for waste stream minimization and management. It will also include on-site fire water storage and pumping along with electric power generation. The aircraft maintenance base includes complete shops to overhaul all aircraft components and systems including; sheet metal, composites, avionics, landing gear and interiors, as well as warehousing for aircraft parts, hazardous materials and other supplies. Future construction included in the conceptual design is for jet engine maintenance and assembly.
